WHAT in the WORLD!?
I never write two posts in one day, but I just could not help it today!
I went to Target. (My favorite store in the world) When I walked in there was a little boy standing up in a buggy and he was with his mom and grandma who were talking and ignoring said little boy.
I look at him. He waves really big at me and smiles. I wave back and smile too. He frowns and STICKS HIS TONGUE OUT AT ME!
HELLO!!!!!!!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD??
His mom and grandma just keep talking.
I walk away continuing to shop and I don't see them for a while. I walk down one aisle and there they are. He is beating on a bag of dog food. Again, mom and grandma completely ignoring him.
I look a little closer this time. He is dirty. His hair is a mess and he is talking really loud. Finally, his mom stops talking and yells at him! "STOP!" she says.
All he wanted was someone to pay attention to him. When I payed attention he didn't know what to do with it and so he stuck his tongue out at me. He was desperate for someone to pay attention to his needs and he was doing all that he could to get someone to just look in his direction!
Our world is like that. They are getting tattoos, getting high, getting drunk, getting arrested and a ton of other things just to get attention. They are screaming, "LOOK AT ME! I NEED SOMEONE TO PAY ATTENTION! I NEED SOMEONE TO LOVE ME!" As Christians we have quite a gift and we need to give it to them! It is the gift of forgiveness, salvation and joy! Jesus calls us to be in the world, but not of it. We do not need to conform to the world and it's horrible ways, but we do need to love and help others see Jesus.
Jesus, please help me to love those who are crying out. They are really just longing for a touch from You! They are longing for a touch from someone who cares. Help me to love everyone I come into contact with... even when they stick their tongues out!
